10th Annual Meeting of the OECD LEED Forum on Partnerships and Local Development

24/04/2014 – In co-operation with the Swedish Public Employment Service, the Swedish Ministry of Employment, SALAR- Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions and WAPES – World Association of Public Employment Services, the 10th Annual Meeting of the OECD LEED Forum on Partnerships and Local Development will bring together some 250 representatives of local partnerships, government officials, public employment services, local leaders, youth organisations, social entrepreneurs, business representatives, and academics. Registration will be open in February 2014.

Better Skills, Better Careers – Reforming the Apprenticeships System

Tackling very long-term unemployment – what works and why?

It will be supported by case studies and expert analysis. Presentation from Andrew Dean of Exeter University will examine international approaches to what works in tackling long term unemployment. The day will end with a look at case studies of individual approaches and area-based approaches in Solent and Greater Manchester.

29/04/2014 – “Apprenticeships and Equality: A call to action” is a free conference hosted by the Department of Business Innovation and Skills, the National Apprenticeship Service and the TUC. The conference will look at apprenticeships and equality in light of the recent unionlearn/National Apprenticeship Service research on “under-representation in Apprenticeships” and discuss what needs to be done to make sure apprenticeships are genuinely open to all.

Welfare reform – creating effective local delivery partnerships
